Die Back - Life in the Ravines
Filmed over the course of a year, Life in the Ravines explores the tragic life cycle of one of Britain’s rarest habitats as it succumbs to ash dieback — a devastating disease killing 99.9% of the UK’s ash trees. The film follows the people fighting to save these precious landscapes, hearing from scientists and locals alike as they grapple with a difficult question: should diseased trees be cut down to protect the woodland we love?
What we did:

Over the course of a year, Salt Street has been out in the field capturing the LITR team’s work as they fight this devastating disease. We built the film around a central dramatic question: Should trees be cut down to save the woodland we love? That question guided us — and hopefully the audience — from one belief to another.

We focused on landscape, cinematography, and direction to create an environmental social-change documentary that both entertains and inspires, helping viewers fall in love with the beautiful, fragile landscapes of the Peak District.
